Using a typical sealer Marble Institute of America recommends sealing your stone twice a year to maintain the beauty and to protect your investment. With a standard sealer it is not recommended to use any chemicals, such as Windex, to clean your counter. The reason for this is it breaks down the sealer, moreover, leaving your stone prone to staining, discoloration, or salt deposits.

Marble, Travertine, Limestone, Sandstone, Slate for interior all natural stones have tiny pores that allow water and oils to penetrate. Some stones such as Limestone, Travertine, and Marble are considered to be more dense then other natural stones such as slate and sandstone. Nonetheless, all natural stone needs to be sealed in order to keep it looking beautiful. Cleaning your natural stone is another issue. When using hard chemicals you break down the sealer defeating the purpose of sealing your stone. Another common problem that us more serious can occur when water is allowed to move freely through the material. This water can carry salt, minerals and dirt which overtime can corrode, discolor, or even break up the surface. The perfect example of this is the Pharos Pyramids of Egypt. If you could see them when they were first built, they were magnificent in white color limestone perfectly aligned smooth pieces of stone. When you look at them today you can see the corrosion they have incurred over time. Although it took thousands of years for that damage to occur, similar damage is evident after less then a decade of materials being exposed to the extremes in weather and climate changes.

Dry-Treat Sealers help protect your surfaces from these problems. This product has specially engineered molecules that penetrate deeper into the pores and bond with them permanently. This creates a breathable barrier that does not allow water amd all those things in it(salt, minerals, dirt) to pass through and cause the damage discussed above. Best of all is the Dry-Treat sealers can stand up to chemicals, traffic, sunlight and even pressure hosing. Plus the sealer comes with a 15-year written warranty when it is applied by an accredited applicator.
